Hopi Ear Candles aka Thermal Auricular Therapy
How They Work
Hopi ear candles are an ancient therapy with positive benefits. The process involves placing a specially designed candle just inside the ear canal; the candle is then lit, resulting in a gentle suction that draws impurities from the ear. Essentially, the candle acts as a chimney, causing the warm air inside the ear to rise and creating a vacuum at the bottom.
Ancient Greeks used ear candles for cleansing, purifying and healing at a spiritual level; in the modern world, the practice is known to be used by Native American tribes, particularly by Shaman healers.
The candles are still made in the traditional style to an age-old formula.
Not to be used if – grommets are in place
– if the ear appears to be inflamed or infected
– if there appears to be any allergic reaction to any oils
For this session, you will lie on your side in a warm, tranquil, clinic room, listening to music. A candle is then gently placed in the exposed ear canal, and you will hear a slight hissing sound, similar to that of shell on the beach. The candle will burn down very slowly, with any ash or residue being removed throughout the experience. Once it has burnt down to a safe distance, the candle is removed and treatment is repeated with the other ear. The experience is then completed with a gentle face massage.
Most clients find this treatment to be extremely relaxing, often to the point of falling asleep, as well as feeling benefits to their entire bodies.

Does it hurt?
I have had my ear syringed. Will it hurt as much and will it work as well?
Clients who have had both treatments say that HCP candles do not hurt and are far more beneficial and rewarding.
